[Lingtyp] etymology of telic motion verbs

Dear colleagues, what do we know, cross-linguistically about diachronic
sources of telic motion verbs, especially those meaning ‘to arrive’ and ‘to
leave’? I mean, what are the earlier meanings that can engender  those of
telic motion verbs?
