[Lingtyp] Call for papers

Dear colleagues,

I'd like to draw your attention on this call for papers: The Workshop on Tones in Languages.

The First Workshop on Tones in Languages will be held at Changshu Institute of Technology, China on October 22-24th, 2021. We invite papers on any area of tones of any language for oral presentations. Paper presentations will be 20 minutes long with 10 minutes for questions.
Deadline
The deadline for new submissions is Aug. 31st, 2021, 11:59 pm Beijing Time. Abstracts will be subject to blind review.
Abstract Guidelines
All abstracts should be written in Chinese or English and should not exceed 500 words (with references and examples). Non-English language data should include interlinear glosses by following the Leipzig Glossing Rules<https://www.eva.mpg.de/lingua/pdf/Glossing-Rules.pdf>. The 500-word abstract should be single-spaced and in a unicode font no smaller than 11 point, and in .pdf or .doc/.docx format.
Submission Instructions
Authors are invited to send an email shengdiaowenti at 163.com. Accepted presenters can opt to present the paper virtually if travel restrictions are not eased by then due to the COVID 19.
Meeting Venue:
Changshu Institute of Technology at Donghu Campus.
*We currently plan to have the workshop partially online for international participants and in person for domestic participants and those who can travel to Changshu.

“声调问题”工作坊征稿启事
人类语言可以分为声调语言和非声调语言两类。印欧语系的语言绝大多数属于非声调语言；汉藏语系则有很多语言属于声调语言。在非洲、美洲的部分地方也分布着声调语言。不同的语言、不同的方言，声调系统不一样，声调的具体表现也各有不同，有的语言或者方言还有复杂的连读变调现象。常熟理工学院中国语言文学江苏省重点建设学科和江苏高校哲学社会科学优秀创新团队“苏南吴方言与口头非物质文化遗产的调查与研究”将于2021年10月22日-24日在常熟理工学院东湖校区举办“声调问题”工作坊，以期对声调问题进行深入的讨论。
本次工作坊聚焦于人类语言中的声调问题，议题包括（但不限于）：

  1.  与声调相关的语言现象的具体描写与解释；
  2.  声调的起源与演变；
  3.  不同语言（方言）与声调相关的语言现象的比较；
  4.  用实验的手段研究声调问题；
  5.  语音识别与语音合成中的声调问题；
  6.  语言习得与语言教学中的声调问题。
本次工作坊拟采用线上与线下相结合的方式进行。工作语言为汉语和英语。请感兴趣的专家学者在2021年8月31日前将摘要（500字以内）寄到邮箱shengdiaowenti at 163.com。联系人：王健。
