[Lingtyp] Query: "not yet" > "perhaps"

Dear colleagues,

Are you aware of any attested or reconstructed case of change in meaning
undergone by a grammatical marker from "not yet" to "perhaps" (i.e., an
expression of uncertainty), at least in some contexts?

An example of this would be:

*The package has not arrived yet*. > *Perhaps the package has arrived*.
