ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF LINGUISTICS IN AUSTRONESIAN

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa invites
applications for a full-time, tenure-track position (position no. TBA) in
Austronesian languages and linguistics to begin Fall 2024, pending position
clearance and availability of funds. Seeking outstanding applicants whose
research and teaching specialization in Austronesian will contribute to the
department’s strong commitment to language sustainability and diversity in
the Pacific, Asia and beyond; study of language through data-driven
methods, including experimental, documentary, and computational approaches;
and emphasis on community engagement in language work. The University of
Hawai‘i at Mānoa offers MA and PhD degree programs in Linguistics, as well
as an interdisciplinary BA. For more information, see:

We welcome applications from populations historically underrepresented in
the academy, especially members of Austronesian language communities. We
also seek applicants who will contribute to excellence in teaching and
mentoring students from diverse backgrounds.
