[Lingtyp] Query: 'Deceased referent' markers

Dear Edith,
the  epitheta ornantia such as  "swift-footed Achilles" or "(the)
rose-finger Down"  (i.e. the Down with fingers of rose) apply just to
Achilles and the goddess Down. Of course, 'swift-footed' might apply to
other heroes too, but you'll not find another 'sweet-footed' in the homeric
poems. On the contrary, Germ. *selig, *Occitan *paure *and similar ADJs may
(or in some cases must, for respect reasons) apply to deceased persons. I
agree that the epitheta tend to make a single unit with the proper names,
but the difference between homeric epitheta, the *Chanson de Rolan*d, or *El
Cantar de mio Cid *epitheta and the DRMs  has to be kept in mind, since the
latter have a social, pragmatic function and not a literary value.
