Hi Clemens,
This sounds really interesting. I second Martine's suggestion to look at
work on quotation and prosody. I rely on that work in the below paper of
mine, which you may find of interest. If nothing else, the bibliography of
my paper collects many pieces considering the multi-modal resources for
marking off represented discourse. I wish I had been able to incorporate
the case you describe into my paper's argument!
