[Lingtyp] Please sign the petition to save the Intitute of Latvian Language

Dear colleagues,

*I apologize for this request for help which might be a bit of an 
offtopic. But we desperately need your help here in signing this petition. *

Latvian is not an endangered language (although some of its varieties 
are) but it certainly not a very well studied language. Crucially, its 
research was extremely underfunded in the recent years, amounting to 
only two full positions (external grants excluded) or 10 in total 
instead of earlier 50 full-time positions. Needless to say, what an 
impact this has on our colleagues, linguists working on Latvian and in 
Latvia. So your help in signing the petition would be very much appreciated.
