We are pleased to announce the release of AfBo 2.0 (https://afbo.info/),
a significantly expanded and updated version of the Affix Borrowing
(AfBo) database, originally published in 2013. AfBo 2.0 provides
detailed descriptions of 132 cases of affix borrowing, i.e., cases where
one language borrowed at least one affix from another language,
involving a total of 754 borrowed affixes. It also includes an online
interface with descriptions of borrowed affixes, examples of
combinations of borrowed affixes with native stems, search functions,
maps, and 331 bibliographical references. The entire underlying database
can be downloaded as a CLDF dataset and is freely accessible to
facilitate cross-linguistic research on language contact. The dataset
being available in CLDF also allows for easy publication within the
Cross-Linguistic Linked Data (CLLD) framework, like other CLDF resources
such as Glottolog and Grambank. AfBo 2.0 is edited by Frank Seifart and
Francesco Gardani, and the CLDF dataset is curated by Robert Forkel. We
invite you to explore this new release at https://afbo.info/.
