The Department of Linguistics at Harvard University has been authorized to
make an appointment at the senior level (tenured full professorship),
effective July 1, 1996.  Candidates are expected to provide a
distinguished record of publication and teaching in historical
linguistics, a strong commitment to current theoretical concerns, and
active engagement in the professional life of the field.  Demonstrated
effective administrative experience is desirable. Applicants are requested

German Department at the University of Manchester has a research rating of

LECTURESHIP IN GERMAN LINGUISTICS
 
Applications are invited for a lectureship in the Department of German from
January 1 1996 (or a mutually agreed date). The successful candidate will
be required to pursue research in a field of German linguistics, to teach
courses at all levels in German linguistics (synchronic and/or diachronic)
and to give language courses in German. Essential prerequisites for this
post are native or near-native command of German, a completed Ph.D. and
proven research experience in the relevant field. The salary will be on the
scales 15,154 pounds to 19,848 pounds p.a. (Grade A) or 20,677 pounds p.a.
(Grade B).
