SOFTWARE DESIGN ENGINEER IN TEST for the Natural Language Group
Design and implement an automation system and test tools for the Natural
Language Test Group.  This includes testing components for use in Microsoft
products to enable features based on recognizing and processing information
expressed in natural human languages. Requires a minimum of 4 years
programming and/or testing experience in the microcomputer environment.
Knowledge of C/C++ required.  Knowledge of OLE 2.0 preferred.  Database
engineering or administration experience preferred.  Demonstrated experience
in MSTest and Visual Basic programming, and knowledge of Microsoft Windows or
Apple Macintosh preferred.  A BA/BS degree in Computer Science preferred.

Design and build high quality software for the Natural Language Group which
provides natural language technology to Microsoft product groups. This
includes owning key components of the natural language engine which enables
morphology analysis, parsing, and semantics processing of natural language
text in multiple languages. Requires a minimum of 5 years experience
developing software and building complex systems. A BA/BS or MS degree in
Computer Science or equivalent work experience required. Please send

PROGRAM MANAGER - Data Repository for the Natural Language Group
Design, build, and test linguistic data repository for the Word Natural
Language Group.  This includes designing, building, and testing the data
entry interfaces and the database.  Requires a minimum of  3 years experience
shipping products. A full understanding of the development cycle required.
Demonstrated skills in organization, detail-orientation, design skills,
communication, and the ability to get things done required. Fluency in
multiple languages desired. A BA/BS or MS degree in Computer Science or

analysis, parsing, or semantics processing of natural language text in Far

Group.  Lead a small team whose mission is to test components that enable
numerous MS product features based on recognizing and processing information
expressed in natural human languages.  Requires at least 2 years test
engineering experience, and fluent Japanese or Chinese.  Knowledge of Visual
Basic preferred.  Knowledge of  Windows programming, C/C++, Mac, and/or
relational databases desired.  Linguistic skills and knowledge of additional
languages desired.  A BA/BS in Computer Science or Linguistics preferred.

               Job Announcement for Spring 1997
 
        Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures
                National Chiao Tung University
                    Hsinchu, Taiwan, R.O.C
 
The Department plans to fill a number of teaching positions in the
following fields:
 
Computational linguistics, child language acquistion, speech
perception.
 
Appointees will be required to conduct individual and collaborative
research, teach specialized as well as language proficiency courses
(including translation), participate in curriculum development, and
perform some administrative duties.
 
Candidates must have Ph.D. degrees by the time of appointment, which
is scheduled for Feb., 1997. Appointments will be made at the ranks of
Assistant Professorship (pending government approval), Associate
Professorship, or Professorship.  Salaries will be based on the
government pay scale, and commensurate with qualifications and
experience.
