*** Research Position at Motorola Corporate Research Laboratories ***
 
Motorola, Inc. has an opening for an individual to research and
develop spoken language systems at the Motorola Corporate Research
Center in Schaumburg, Illinois. This researcher will be a member of an
interdisciplinary team exploring the integration of speech recognition
and natural language processing technologies for product applications
of man-machine communications. The duties of the position include
applied research, software development, and implementation of
principles of natural language processing in working systems.
Innovation in research and applications of technology is the standard
for all members of the team.
 
Strong programming skills and an in-depth understanding of natural
language processing are required. Preference will be given to
candidates with experience in any or all of the following: C++ and
object oriented programming, parser development, grammar development,
spoken language understanding systems, dialogue models.  A Ph.D. in
computer science, computational linguistics or a related field is
preferred, but strong Masters candidates will also be considered.
 
The search will continue until the position is filled, but first
consideration will be given to resumes received by January 31, 1997.
