Conference Theme: Crossing Disciplinary Boundaries
*******************Second Call for Papers and Posters*******************
The Interdisciplinary Ph.D. Program in Second Language Acquisition and
Teaching (SLAT) at the University of Arizona has been selected to host the
Second Language Research Forum in 1996. Papers on all topics in the field of
Second Language Acquisition and Teaching are welcome, but presentations
addressing the conference theme are strongly encouraged. Abstracts are invited
for individual or joint papers or posters on topics in L2 analysis, L2
processes, L2 use, and L2 pedagogy/program administration.
Individual papers will be 20 minutes long with 5 minutes for discussion.
Submissions should include (a) three anonymous copies of an abstract (500
words max.); (b) one copy stating the name of the author(s) and
affiliation(s); (c) a 50 word summary of the presentation to be included in
the conference program if accepted; (d) a typed 3"x 5" card bearing the title
of the paper/poster and the name(s), affiliation(s), phone number(s),
snailmail and e-mail address(es) of the author(s). Please indicate in the
upper righthand corner of your abstract whether it should be considered for
the paper or the poster sessions. You may submit only one abstract for a
single or joint paper presentation and only one for a single or joint poster
session. Please also indicate whether you would like e-mail acknowledgement
of receipt of the proposal. If you have any questions regarding the submission
guidelines, please send them to: SLRF96 at ccit.arizona.edu. Selected papers will
be published in the _Journal of Intensive English Studies_.

2nd Celtic Language Learning Conference

CALL FOR PAPERS
(third notice)
This conference is being organized by the North American
Association for Celtic Language Teachers. Abstracts for
individual papers are welcome on the following topics
involving any one or more of the modern Celtic languages:
computer assisted instruction
dialect choice in language learning
language acquisition
language and gender
language learning materials
language policy and planning
language testing and teacher certification
syllabus design
Papers will be twenty minutes long with a ten minute discussion
period following. Send three double spaced printed copies of a
300 word abstract with name, address, voice and fax number, e-mail
address, and institutional affiliation on the first copy. Second
and third copy should have no identification. Also send one copy
of a 50 word summary to be included in the conference program and
book of abstracts. Submit these in printed form as well as the
computer texts by e-mail. Texts will be accepted on disk for those
without e-mail access. If submitted on disk, be sure to indicate
DOS or Macintosh and the word processing program used.

CALL FOR ARTICLES
Journal of Celtic Language
Learning, Volume 2
Journal of Celtic Language Learning (ISSN: 1078-3911)
is an international review for researchers and teachers
of modern Celtic Languages. The official publication
of the North American Association for Celtic Language
Teachers, JCLL includes papers presented at the
associations annual conference in addition to manuscripts
submitted by scholars of modern Celtic languages world-wide.
It is also a forum in which modern Celtic language teachers
can share insights into methodology with their peers.
JCLLs mission, similar to that of NAACLT, is to provide
another forum in which teachers and applied linguists can
contribute to the literature presently available on
bilingual and second language acquisition as well as
increase communication among modern Celtic language teachers
and researchers.
Those interested are encouraged to submit research articles
or descriptive accounts of teaching techniques to Dr. Nancy
Stenson, at the addresses below.
Research articles should be between 2,500 to 3,000 words.
APA style should be strictly observed. Four typed copies
should be submitted. A disk (computer) copy of
the article should be kept. It will be requested in
the case of acceptance. Teachers who would like to share
a successful language teaching technique or describe the
modern Celtic language program in which they are teaching
are invited to submit a 200-500 word description. Deadline
for all submissions is 15 April 1996.
