English as a Secong Language (ESL)
Department of TESL and Applied Linguistics
University of California, Los Angeles
 
The Department of TESL and Applied Linguistics at UCLA seeks
applicants for an Academic Coordinator for the ESL Program. The
appointee will be responsible for (1) program development and
curriculum review of ESL courses, (2) coordinating course offerings,
overseeing enrollment trends and allocating course assignments, (3)
serving as a liasion with other campus departments and programs, (4)
supervising teaching assistants and advising them on curriculum, (5)
interacting with students and advising them on courses and placement
into the ESL curriculum, (6) working with the budget officer on
fiscal issues and (7) serving on the departmental Executive
Committee. The appointee is expected to teach two classes a year such
as ESL Methods, Field Practicum or one of the ESL service courses.
Candidates must have a Masters Degree in hand at the time of
application. Applications must be received by April 1, 1996 and
should include a letter, curriculum vitae, three letters of reference

University of Copenhagen, Humanities Faculty, invites applications for the
following position at the Carsten Niebuhr Institute for Near Eastern
Studies beginning fall 1996:
 
Hebrew Studies:
Associate professor position for 3 years.
 
Applicants must document scholarly competence in classic and modern
Hebrew language, literature, culture and social affairs.  The person
hired will teach undergraduate and graduate level Hebrew language and
literature.
 
General conditions:
 
Associate professors will be expected to have qualifications
equivalent to those that could be achieved in the course of fulfilling
an assistant professor position. In evaluating applications, the main
emphasis will be placed on an assessment of the applicant's research
qualifications and applicants should be able to demonstrate a high
level of scholarly attainment within the relevant academic discipline.
Applications must include full information and documentation of the
applicant's scholarly qualifications and teaching
experience. Applications should include a full list of publications
and should specify which publications the applicant wishes to be taken
into account in the evaluation of his or her scholarly, teaching and
other qualifications.  Three copies of these publications should be
included in the application.  Material in electronic form (such as
discs) is not accepted.  Salary and other conditions of employment are
those agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the
Organisations of Academic Graduates.  A qualified appointment
committee will be set up, and the names of the members sent to the
applicants.
