We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

As a graduate student in linguistics, I am currently searching for copies
of these titles, all of which Slavica Publishers lists as being out of
print. Any tips would be greatly appreciated, as would names of other
resources. Many thanks!

Subject: HTML-based computer aided language learning
I am looking for information on the use of HTML and the Web as a
platform for delivering computer aided language learning. I am
particularly interested in finding out about attempts to set up
interactive exercises using HTML forms and any of a range of
JavaScript, VBScript, Java or ActiveX. So far the only relevant site
I have come across is one called ALBERT
<http://oyt.oulu.fi/tako/albert/> set up by the Continuing Education
Centre of Oulu University in Finland.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. I will summarise the
responses I receive.

Sorry, to come up with a gender query again. This time the
name of the person is: Bjarne Ulvestad - woman or man?
When you do not know certain languages you just can't be sure.
Thanks in advance.
At the same time I like to thank the many, many people who
responded to the query about Nelleke Oostdijk

Subject: Offensive/pejorative idioms that refer to animals
Together with my friend I am doing a project on offensive/pejorative
idioms in English and Polish that refer to animals. I would appreciate
it if anybody could give me some examples of such expressions from
English or any other languages.
Please include their synonyms/explanations in English (if they come from
other languages than English) and also possibly their origins/etymology.
If I collect enough data I will post the summary of the study to the
list.
