We'd appreciate your limiting conference announcements to 150 lines,
so that we can post more than 1 per issue. Please consider omitting
information useful only to attendees, such as information on housing,
transportation, or rooms and times of sessions. Please do not use
abbreviations or acronyms for your conference unless you explain
them in your text. Many people outside your area of specialization
will not recognize them. Thank you for your cooperation.

If you arrive at Pisa Airport: just take the train to Pisa
Centrale. Alternatively, take bus n.7 (this bus stops at
Central Station and then goes to the City center.
If you arrive at Roma Fiumicino: take the train to Roma
Termini (Rome's central station). Then take any train going
north towards Genova (or Torino or Savona/Ventimiglia) and
get off at Pisa Centrale.
If you arrive at Milano Linate: take the bus to Milano
Centrale (Milan's central station). Then take any train going
south towards Bologna/Firenze/Roma and stopping in Firenze
Santa Maria Novella; get off at that station, take any train
calling at Pisa/Livorno and get off at Pisa Centrale.
If you arrive from any other direction, just email us!
You can find train schedule at our web site:
http://alphalinguistica.sns.it/~igg97/trains_schedule.html
Notice
In Italy there are three different train prices and you
have to buy the right ticket.
Trains labelled P (Pendolino) are the fastest and most
expensive; trains labelled IC (Intercity) are fast and
expensive. To take one of these you have to pay an additional
fare, called "Supplemento" (do not forget!).
No additional fare for other trains.
All tickets must be validated before getting on the train,
by using the small yellow machines in the stations. Do not
forget it, or you'll have to pay a fine.
HOW TO GET TO THE SCUOLA NORMALE
The Scuola Normale Superiore is situated in Piazza dei
Cavalieri, in the town center.
Walking: When you go out of the railway station Pisa Centrale,
cross the Piazza, go straight, cross a second Piazza and go
straight along the main street called Corso Italia. After
walking about 10 minutes, you cross the river Arno on the
bridge Ponte di Mezzo. Cross Piazza Garibaldi and go
straight along the porticoed street Borgo Stretto, keeping on
the left side. Where the arcades end, turn left in via Ulisse
Dini and go straight to Piazza dei Cavalieri (you can't miss
it). The Scuola is the big building on the right . The walking
time is approximately 20 minutes.
By bus: Buy a ticket at the Tobacco shop in the hall of the
station, or at the CPT office (out of the station, to the
right). Get out of the station, cross the Piazza, and take
number 2,3,4 or 7 at the bus stop in front of Hotel
Cavalieri. After crossing the river Arno the bus will turn
right, drive along the river and then turn left. After it has
turned left and entered a porticoed street (Borgo Stretto),
get off at the second stop, cross the street and take via
Ulisse Dini. Walk straight to Piazza dei Cavalieri: the Scuola
is the big building on the right. The total time is
approximately 10 minutes.
