Esperanto is a language designed as a second language for everyone.
You can learn it four times faster than other languages (yes, that's
an approximation for native English speakers); it's politically
acceptable everywhere; and about two million people speak it today.

Subject: M.A. in East Asian L & L
The University of Colorado at Boulder will offer a new MA in East
Asian Languages and Literatures with a track in CHINESE LINGUISTICS
and a track in JAPANESE LINGUISTICS, with an option for teaching
certification in secondary and elementary education.
Beginning fall 1997 the Department of East Asian Languages and
Literatures at the University of Colorado at Boulder will offer the
M.A. in East Asian Languages and Literatures with four tracks: Chinese
language and literature (this incorporates the curriculum of the
former Chinese M.A.), Chinese language and civilization, Japanese
language and literature, and Japanese language and civilization.
Students may pursue secondary school teaching certification in
Japanese or Chinese concurrently with the M.A. All tracks require the
equivalent of the undergraduate B.A. in Chinese or Japanese for
regular admission.
