The Georgetown University Department of Linguistics seeks to fill a
one-year replacement position in linguistic theory for the 1997-98
academic year. The candidate will teach two courses per semester, as
follows:

- A seminar in phonological theory;

- A graduate-level introduction to phonology geared to the needs of
applied linguistics students;

- Two more courses at the upper-level undergraduate or graduate levels
in morphology, syntax, or language acquisition, with the precise
details to be worked out according to the specialization of the
candidate and the needs of the department.

The candidate will also be expected do advising in his or her area of
expertise, and would also have the opportunity to mentor Masters
Research Papers (more or less the equivalent of M.S. Theses). The
position pays $5,000 per course, i.e. $20,000 for the year.

We will begin reviewing applications on May 16, and will continue
until the position is filled. To apply, send a cover letter, CV,
