Kentucky Foreign Language Conference
Linguistics Sessions

The 51st Annual Kentucky Foreign Language Conference will be held on
April 16-18, 1998, at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.  The
conference will include sessions devoted to theroretical and
descriptive linguistics , sociolinguistics, and applied linguistics,
including a special session this year on Teaching English as a
Second Language.

If you wish to present a paper in one of these sessions, send two
copies of a one-page abstract (data, tables, and references may be on
a second page ) to:

All papers will be 20 minutes in length, with an additional 10 minutes
for questions.  The dealine for submission of abstracts is November
17, 1997; authors will be notified of the acceptance/rejection of
their paper in mid December.20

The conference program and information about registration and hotel
accommodations will be mailed to conference participants in early

FIRST CIRCULAR AND CALL FOR PAPERS


PROGRAMME

The 31st Poznan Linguistic Meeting, organized by the School of
English, Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan, Poland, will continue
the theme of the previous meeting, Recent developments in linguistic
theory, with emphasis on a number of theories and areas of study:
Natural Morphology, Natural Phonology, Government Phonology,
Minimalism in syntax,  SLA and cognitive linguistics.

A Project Meeting on the Acquisition of Pre- and Protomorphology will
be held in conjuction with the 31st PLM, starting in the evening of
the 1st of May and continuing up to the 4th of May (i.e. one full day
longer than PLM itself). This will be another in the series of
meetings of the participants in the International Project on the
Acquisition of Pre- and Protomorphology, coordinated by Wolfgang U.
Dressler (University of Vienna). The Project Meeting will be open to
all PLM participants (and vice versa).

A teach-in on Natural Morphology by Wolfgang U. Dressler in the
evening of the 1st of May will inagurate the Project Meeting.
All queries concerning the Project Meeting should be directed to
Katarzyna Dziubalska-Kolaczyk, PLM organizer (address below).

A Government Phonology workshop will be organized by Eugeniusz Cyran
(Catholic University Lublin) and John Rennison (University of
Vienna). All queries concerning the GP workshop itself, including
proposals for presentations, should be directed to the organizers:

A workshop on Contrastive syntactic analysis: GB meets Minimalism
will be organized by Jacek Witkos (Poznan). All queries concerning
the syntactic workshop itself, including proposals for presentations,

PAPERS

Proposals for papers are invited for the sections on Natural
Phonology, second language acquisition, cognitive linguistics as well
as on other theory-oriented topics.
2-page abstracts (including bibliography) should be submitted to
Katarzyna Dziubalska-Kolaczyk (address below) by the end of December
1997 - by email AND post, please!
