Subject: Professor in Computational Linguistics (Sweden)
Stockholm University invites applications for a position as Professor
in Computational Linguistics at the Department of Linguistics, Faculty
of Liberal Arts.
Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, with a population of over one and a
half million inhabitants, is a major cultural and scientific center.
When appointing a professor of the state university system of Sweden,
special emphasis is given to both research competence and teaching
competence. Consideration is also given to administrative skills, in
particular leadership ability. Proficiency in Swedish (Scandinavian)
or English is necessary. Wherever appropriate, a willingness to learn
Swedish is assumed.
Salary is negotiable. The University is an Equal Opportunities
employer, and since most professors at the Faculty of Liberal Arts are
men, applications from female candidates are particularly
welcome. Since the position is a full-time job, residence in the
Stockholm area is necessary.
Informal inquiries may be made to the Head of the Department,
Dr. Peter af Trampe (e-mail: pat at ling.su.se).
Applications, quoting reference no 611-2633/97 (resp 2634/97), should
be sent to the Registrar, Staff Management Division, Stockholm
University, S-106 91 Stockholm, Sweden. They must reach the
Registrar's Office no later than 12 January 1998.
The following items, all in four copies, should be included:
1. Curriculum vitae.
2. Bibliography (numbered)
3. Description of the candidate's research achievements and teaching
experience and leadership ability (5-10 pages). A guideline regarding
the presentation of teaching qualifications may be obtained from Ulf
Lindgren of the Staff Management Division, phone +46-8-16 33 22, fax
+46-8-612 59 60 , e-mail: ulf.lindgren at PB.SU.SE.
4. Photocopies of relevant graduation diplomas.
5. Research publications of the candidate's own choice, numbered
according to the bibliography.
Items 1 and 2 should reach the University before the application
period expires. Items 3 and 4, and _one copy_ of each of item 5 should
arrive no later than 2 February 1998. The three additional copies of
item 5 are to be sent later, upon notification from the University, to
the three Expert Members of the Appointments Board.
