Subject:  Temporary position at Yale, 1998-99


The Department of Linguistics at Yale University expects to make a
temporary appointment for the academic year 1998-99, to replace
faculty on leave. This is a one year position only, with no
expectation of continuation beyond that time.  The appointee should be
prepared to teach courses in syntax at the undergraduate and graduate
levels, as well as an introductory course in morphological
theory. Additional qualifications in the area of psycholinguistics
and/or neurolinguistics would be desirable, but not required. At least
some previous teaching experience is expected.

Applicants should send a current CV, copies of at most two
publications and the names of potential references [do NOT send
letters at this time] to: Syntax search committee, Dept. of
Linguistics, 318 HGS, Box 208236 Yale Station, New Haven, CT
06520-8236. We hope to interview potential candidates at the
Linguistic Society of America Annual Meeting in New York in January,
1998.  Applications should be submitted by 15 January, 1998.  Yale

Announcement for Summer Teaching Positions

The MA TESL program at Northern Arizona University is looking for
several instructors to teach in our summer program.  Instructors are
paid for each course taught, at a rate depending on current rank at
the home institution: $3,312 per course for full professor; $2,622 per
course for associate professor; $2,277 per course for assistant
professor; $1,800 for instructor or lecturer.

     We are looking for instructors for the following courses:
