    Montclair State University is seeking a full-time, twelve month
    Director of the Language Laboratory of the College of
    Humanitities and Social Sciences to manage language lab operations and
    supervise staff. Responsibilities include coordinating integration of
    multi-media technologies in teaching of languages; supporting
    and training faculty, staff, and students in media-based pedagogy;
    developing and evaluating internet and other multi-media
    resources; maintaining liaison with information and computer
    technology personnel.  Qualifications: MA required; PhD. preferred,
    in education technology; language competency in French, German,
    Italian, or Spanish; two years experience in language teaching or

The TESOL Program at American University in Washington, DC would like
to submit the following job announcement to be included in your job

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF TESOL, American University, Washington, DC.

The Department of Language and Foreign Studies invites applications
for the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of TESOL
(Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), to begin Fall 1998.
With over thirty years of TESOL experience, American University offers
an MA in TESOL, and a combined Bachelors/Masters program.  The
department hosts an annual Spring TESOL Conference and an annual
Summer TESOL Institute.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 *teaching courses in linguistics and TESOL in such
areas as principles of linguistics, language analysis, second language
acquisition, theory and practice of English language teaching, and
language teaching and testing.
 *directing the Masters, Certificate,
and combined Bachelors/Masters programs
 *engaging in an active program of research and publication
 *rendering service at the departmental, college, and university
levels.

QUALIFICATIONS:
*Phd in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or other appropriate discipline
*record of excellence in teaching and research.
