The Department of Linguistics, Germanic, Slavic, Asian and African
Languages at Michigan State University is pleased to announce the following
job opening:

Assistant Professor of Linguistics, tenure-track position beginning 15
August 1998.  Ability to teach Swahili and to supervise the teaching of
Swahili and other Bantu languages, plus a teaching and research
specialization in linguistics which complements current departmental
specializations in theoretical and/or applied linguistics.  Candidates
should be interested in teaching large-enrollment undergraduate courses and
have a research program which could contribute to the university's national
Language Resource Center.  Ph.D. in linguistics by time of appointment.
Review of applicants will begin 1 December l997 and continue until the
position is filled.

The University of California, Berkeley seeks an anthropologist at the
assitant professor level, interested in language, society and culture.  The
appointment will be effective July 1, 1998.  Candidates should demonstrate
theoretical breadth in anthropology and have training in the study of
language and culture.  Experience in non-western languages is preferable.

Subject:  Cognitive Psychology Position at Northeastern Univ.

The Department of Psychology, Northeastern University, announces a
tenure-track opening at the assistant professor level in the area of
cognitive psychology.  The candidate should have a Ph.D. in psychology,
