Providence University has a full-time opening, starting in January 1998,
for a Ph.D. to teach History of the English Language and one or more of
the following: phonology, phonetics, syntax, English for Special
Purposes. Interest in the Chinese language preferred. Competitive salary.

Subject: Phonology at UC Davis
Phonology position
University of California, Davis
Tenure-track, open rank, beginning Fall 1998. Specialty in Phonology with
a secondary focus on 1) human language processing, 2) second language
acquisition or 3) multilinguialism in the context of California. Duties
include research, graduate supervision, committee service and a teaching
load of five quarter courses per year. The candidate will be expected to
teach courses in phonology from a variety of theoretical perspectives, both
beginning and advanced, as well as basic courses in phonetics. A
successful candidate must have Ph.D. in hand at time of application and
show strength in research and teaching. Minority and women candidates are
especially encouraged to apply. EO/AAE. Application deadline: postmarked
by December 15, 1997 or until position is filled. Send CV, three reference
