Subject: Stress vs. Syllable Timed Languages
There seems to be a growing consensus that the notion 'stress timed vs.
syllable timed' captures a real property of languages. Within a language
family, both types can be found, e.g. French vs. English.
I would very much appreciate any pointers to literature dealing with the
historical development of rhythmic categories. Thanks!
