Subject: Applied Ling and SLA at Georgetown
Georgetown University Department of Linguistics announces a non-tenure
track, one-year replacement position in the Applied Linguistics
Program for the academic year 1999-2000, pending approval of funding.
The individual must demonstrate a strong research and publication
record in second language acquisition and must already hold a
doctorate. Duties will include teaching undergraduate and graduate
courses in the areas of SLA, psycholinguistics, and L2 methodology.
Opportunities exist for guiding graduate research.
Consideration of applications will begin January 30, 1999 and will
continue until the position is filled. Our intention is to hold
interviews at AAAL'99. To apply, send a letter of application, CV,
names and contact information of three references, a list of courses
prepared to teach, and representative publications to:

UCLA Semantics position
Subject to availability of funding, the UCLA Department of Linguistics
seeks to fill a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in formal
semantics, starting Fall 1999. Competence in syntax and demonstrated
interest in the syntax-semantics interface is essential. Duties
include graduate and undergraduate teaching and advising; the
candidate's research interests should mesh with and contribute to
those of other members of the department. PhD required by Fall 1999.

a copy of their CV, samples of written work and, if possible, recent
