Research Studentship

The Institute is looking to recruit a research student to investigate the
provision of written feedback to postgraduate students following taught
MA programmes. The student will be expected to register for a
MPhil/PhD degree at the Institute and all associated fees will be met.
Applicants are expected to have a MA in Applied Linguistics or a similar
field, should have good IT skills and experience in text analysis would
be an advantage. A bursary is available from the academic year
1998/99 for three years, although an earlier start would be possible.

Subject:   PhD position

The Faculty of Languages and European Studies of the University of the
West of England in Bristol is looking to recruit a research student
wishing to write a PhD thesis in any area of European Studies,
including Linguistics.  Although applications from candidates from
different disciplines within the broad field of European Studies are
welcome, readers of the Linguist list may want to draw the attention
of research students with a first or a good second class honours
degree in Linguistics to the possibility of applying to this position.
Applications from students with an interest in bilingualism
(code-switching, language contact), sociolinguistics or (bilingual)
language acquisition are particularly welcome.
