TENURE-TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSOR.  Pending final administrative approval,
the Department of Psychology at Kent State University seeks applications
for four tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level
starting in the 1999-2000 academic year.  Applicants should have received a
Ph.D. in psychology prior to their appointments.  All positions involve
teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels and the direction of
theses and dissertations.  Ability to teach graduate statistics courses is
desirable.  Teaching experience, an established publication record, and
strong potential for extramural funding are expected.  We are especially
interested in applicants whose research complements that of current
faculty, including health psychology, family relationships,
psychopathology, higher-order cognitive processes, and forensic psychology.
 The Department houses a Psychological Clinic and an Applied Psychology
Center.  More information about the Department is available at our home

SOCIAL (1 position):  We are especially interested in applicants with
research interests in social cognition.  This position includes teaching
graduate and undergraduate social psychology courses.

COGNITIVE (1 position):  We are especially interested in applicants with an
active program of research in higher-order cognitive processes, including
those involved in reasoning, problem-solving, decision-making, remembering,
and producing or comprehending language.

CLINICAL (2 positions):  Applicants must have received a Ph.D. in clinical
psychology from an APA-accredited program, must have completed an
APA-approved pre-doctoral internship, and are expected to become licensed
in Ohio.  Clinical faculty typically are involved in the supervision of
graduate students in our Psychological Clinic.  Kent's clinical training
program is APA-accredited and follows a scientist-practitioner model.

Spanish Linguistics, Ph.D., tenure-track, to begin August 99.  ABDs will
be considered.  Specialization open. Candidates should be willing and
qualified to share coordination responsibilities of midsize Spanish
language program, show strong commitment to both research and teaching,
and have native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English.
Candidate will be fourth linguist in the Department, and will teach
Spanish language and linguistics (including specialized courses in BA

The Academic Technology Specialist for the Linguistics department will
encourage and support the use of technology in teaching by investigating
and implementing new tools for instructors, providing training and
support,
and creating an infrastructure to allow their usage throughout the
program.
He or she will consult with faculty in developing and implementing
curricula using new computer-based educational tools; create, present,
and
manage materials to train faculty and students in the use of technology;
assist the directors in technology-related programmatic development; act
as
a liaison between the department and campus computing groups;
participate
as part of the team of Academic Technology Specialists in Meyer
Library.

Qualifications: At C06 level, BA in linguistics/related discipline plus
2
years experience in academic computing.  At C07 level, advanced degree
in
linguistics or related discipline plus 5 years experience in academic

Demonstrated experience developing web sites.  Excellent communications,
time, and project management skills.  Experience with Mac, PC, and Unix
systems and software.
