"Revisioning Texts"
TINTA
Research Journal of Hispanic and Lusophone Studies
The graduate student research journal of the Department of Spanish and
Portuguese at the University of California, Santa Barbara is soliciting
papers for its forthcoming issue. This issue will focus on re-visioning
texts and language at the close of the millennium. The term
"re-visioning" can be understood as: to see again or to reconsider; to
revise in the sense of alteration; or in the sense of "revisionism"--to
diverge from any accepted doctrine. TINTA will consider papers that
apply this term in a way that suggests the changes witnessed in the last
half of this century in Hispanic and Lusophone literary and linguistic
studies. Topics could include but are not limited to:
* Alterations to the canon; canon-formation
* Re-reading (non-)canonical works
* The state of linguistics and of linguistic theory at the turn
of the century
* Canon and diversity
* Millenium utopia/distopia
Deadline for submission: June 30, 1999.
TINTA is dedicated to the publication of research representing
significant contributions pertaining to the literature, language, and
culture of the Hispanic and Lusophone worlds. We also publish book
reviews, interviews and welcome the works of faculty members and
writers. TINTA is indexed in the MLA Intl-Bibliography.
Articles may be written in English, Spanish, Portuguese, or Catalan and
must conform to the MLA Style Manual. Please send three hard copies of
your paper and one copy on 3.5 inch IBM or Mac diskette in Microsoft
Word, ommitting any reference that would identify you as its author. On
a separate coversheet write your name, affiliation, phone number and
e-mail, and the title of your paper. Enclose a self-addressed stamped
envelope for notification of acceptance. Papers submitted will not be
returned. Please send submissions to:
