Please keep conferences announcement as short as you can; LINGUIST

excessively long.

HOW TO GET TO SIENA
FROM THE AIRPORTS
The closest Airports are Pisa and Florence.
If you arrive at Pisa Airport, get the train directly from the Airport,
change train at Empoli and take a train bound to Siena. You can check the
on-line train schedule at the following web page:
http://www.fs-on-line.com
If you arrive at Florence Airport, you need to take a local bus from the
Airport to the main train station (S. Maria Novella).
See the next section on how to go to Siena from S. Maria Novella.
FROM FLORENCE
From Florence you can either take a train to Siena (in that case, check
the on line schedule at the web page given above) or take a bus. The second
option is the best, because buses are faster and more frequent. Also, buses
arrive in Siena city centre (where the conference is), whereas the train
station is pretty far away from the centre of Siena.
The bus station in Florence is next to the main train station (S. Maria
Novella). Make sure that you take a fast bus (ask for "Corsa Rapida"). The
bus takes 1 hour and 15 minutes to get to Siena.
These are the departure time of "corse rapide" from Florence:

FROM NORTHERN ITALY
You should reach Florence by train (again, check the schedule at web page
indicated above) and from Florence you get to Siena following the
suggestions in the previous section.
FROM ROME
You can reach Siena by train (again, check the schedule at the web page
indicated above) or by bus. Buses leave from the train station Tiburtina.
Tiburtina is not the main train station in Rome, but it is pretty
convenient because there are trains from Rome Airport Leonardo da Vinci to
Tiburtina.
These are the departure time of buses from Rome:

The bus takes approximately 2 hours and 50 minutes. Infoline for buses:

Finally, you can book through "Siena Prenotazioni Alberghiere" service. The

HOW TO GET TO THE CONFERENCE
The conference site is in the city centre (Facolta' di Lettere in Via Roma
47). Reaching Facolta' di Lettere from Piazza del Campo takes approximately
10 minutes walking. From Piazza del Campo take "Via Banchi di Sotto" and go
straight. Via Banchi di Sotto first changes its name in Via Pantaneto and
finally becomes Via Roma.
IMPORTANT TIP
Keep in mind that, if you phone from outside Italy, you need to dial the
entire area code for Siena 0577 (including the zero) after the country code
for Italy. The area code is also necessary when you make a local call.
