Subject:  Natural Language Processsing & Information Retrieval


We are offering at our Centre a module on Natural Language Processing
(includes Computational Linguistics) & Information Retrieval under the
name "Natural Language Engineering". I would like to know if there are any
books covering both the topics - the books should serve more or less like
a text book for the students. Suggestions for small projects in
these areas are also most welcome.

Subject:  Machine Translation post-editing


I would like to enhance my collection of reports, articles, papers,
theses/dissertations, books, conference and seminar talks, etc that deal
with the topic of machine translation post-editing (for all languages).

Copies of bibliographies of works that contain, partially or entirely,
discussions on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

Please let me know if you can send copies of any talks and papers that have
been presented but have not been published.  Complete reference information
(and ordering info if you have it) for all published works would be helpful.

Dear Linguists,


I'm a university student in Hungary, and I'm working
on my thesis at the moment: it is about how computer/
internet "jargon" influences the everyday use of
English. (The migration of computer/internet terms
into mainstream language/culture.)

If you youself use computer metaphors, idioms, jargon
or slang ("I have to reboot", "I must back up my mind
to disk", "My mind is formatted", etc.); or have heard
somebody say such expressions, please send them to my
email! (WHO said it -profession- might be useful.)

Books, websites or references that cite examples to
what I'm looking for would also be of great help to me.
