SENIOR / RESEARCH ENGINEERS

Position 1
Your responsibility will include research into
English & Chinese parsing and text understanding system using
corpus-based approach, finite state transducer, and etc.
Position 2
You will be part of the team that will design and implementation
of English & Chinese parsing and text understanding system.
Requirements:
Master/PhD Degree in Computer Science, preferably in NLP
related area;
Experience in Chinese & English NLP, especially parsing and
text understanding;
Good C/C++ programming skill;
Good communication skill and initiative.

NLP-related projects, eg: thesaurus building and text
summarization.
Requirements:
Degree in Computer Science
Minimum 2 years experience of software development is
essential while NLP-related experience is preferred
In-depth knowledge about C/C++ and database technology
Familiar with natural language processing technology

TEMPORARY TEACHING POSITION
DEPARTMENT OF EAST ASIAN LANGUAGES & CULTURAL STUDIES
UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SANTA BARBARA
Area of Specialization: Japanese
Applications are invited for anticipated part-time and full-time
academic teaching positions in 1999/00 in Japanese language
instruction (contingent upon funding). Applicants should possess a
Master's degree in Linguistics or Language Pedagogy and have prior
teaching experience.
The salary is based on U.C. scale and depends upon qualifications.
The appointments have a possibility of renewal.
