French for Specific Purposes:  ability to create and oversee courses linking
French and professional programs in other colleges (such as Engineering,
Commerce, Law, Architecture, Agriculture, etc.).  Experience teaching
Commercial French strongly preferred.  Applicants must have a research
and publication interest in the field of Language for Specific Purposes,
with an emphasis in French.  Familiarity with the use of technologies in
on-campus and distance education required.  Ability to teach translation
theory and practice preferred.  Evidence of scholarship and native or
near-native quality French and English.  Ph.D. in hand at time of
appointment.  Please describe expected contributions and topics of

Full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate
Professor beginning August 2000. The successful candidate will hold an
earned doctorate in Foreign Language Education, Applied Linguistics,
Second Language Acquisition, or a related area, with significant course
work in foreign language pedagogy. Advanced proficiency in Spanish,
French, or German, and teaching experience in secondary or postsecondary
settings required. Publishing record commensurate with appointment to
rank of assistant or associate professor. Duties include teaching in
area of specialization and teacher training at the undergraduate and MA
levels; supervising K-12 teacher preparation, development, and student
teaching; and active departmental service. Nine-month appointment, with
opportunities for additional teaching during the summer. Salary
competitive. Position will remain open until filled, but screening will
