Linguists Needed for Text Analysis
Synthesys Technologies, Inc. (Austin, Texas) is searching for linguists
to fill full-time positions. Candidates must have a strong background
in any of the following fields: semantics, pragmatics, text analysis, or
computational linguistics. Experience with medicine, medical
informatics, or database design and implementation are highly
desirable. Ideally, candidates will also have strong overall computer
skills with Windows, MS Word, Access, Excel, internet search engine
experience, and experience in logic, programming, or medicine.
Qualified applicants must also possess the following attributes: strong
problem-solving skills, the ability to generalize observations, complete
projects on time and on tight schedules, and the ability to work well in
a team environment. Applicants must be self-directed, detail-oriented,
reliable, responsible, and well organized.
Responsibilities include:
Learn the Textual Query Language (TQL) developed by Synthesys
Technologies, Inc. for our EMRx products. Using TQL, design queries for
the analysis of medical clinic notes and identify linguistic patterns
utilized by health care providers to state diagnoses, events, symptoms,
and other health-related conditions.
About the Synthesys Technologies Data Analysis Group: This is an
opportunity to work with a dedicated group of linguists and programmers
who are using a tool for unstructured text analysis of large data
repositories. We are in the process of developing algorithms and
attributes based on linguistic generalizations. There are plenty of
opportunities for growth within the company. For more information about
