Gender and Language Association (IGALA)

The International Gender and Language Association invites abstracts
for the first IGALA conference (formerly the Berkeley Women and
Language Conference). We seek 20-minute papers that deal with language
in relation to gender and/or sexuality. The conference is
interdisciplinary, and we invite work on diverse languages from a
variety of fields, including anthropology, education, feminist
studies, linguistics, queer studies, and sociology. Each person may
submit at most one individual and one jointly authored abstract.
Submissions should consist of the following:
* Title
* Abstract text (no longer than 500 words)
* Up to 3 key words identifying the subject matter
of the presentation
* Name(s) of author(s) (which should not appear in
the text of the abstract)
* Author affiliation(s), email, phone number, mailing address
Abstracts should be submitted as a regular, single email message. Please
do not send any attachments or use any special formatting. Email
abstracts to igala at csli.stanford.edu. If you do not receive email
confirmation within 2 days of emailing your submission, please resend.
Faxed abstracts will not be accepted. If you do not have access to
email, please send the abstract on a floppy diskette (Mac or PC) along
with one hard copy to:

Notification date: Late February
Abstracts will be anonymously reviewed.
