Syracuse University.  Assistant Professor of Hispanic Linguistics.
Tenure-track. Ph.D. Teach undergraduate and M.A. courses for Spanish
and Linguistics programs.  Primary teaching responsibilities: Hispanic
linguistics (a variety of courses) and general phonological theory.
Additional responsibilities include Romance and possibly French
linguistics.  Languages of instruction are Spanish, and English, (and

The University of Pittsburgh, Department of Linguistics, invites
applications for TWO tenure track positions beginning fall 2000. One
appointment will be at the assistant professor level and one may be at
the associate professor level if a candidate has the appropriate
experience and an established national reputation. Both positions are
subject to budgetary approval. Women and members of under-represented
minority groups are especially encouraged to apply.  Applicants must
have a solid training in linguistic description and analysis, as well
as competence in one or more of the following areas: American Indian
Languages, sociolinguistics and/or sociology of language, and
descriptive linguistics. Preference will be given to candidates with
language breadth and/or expertise in computational or quantitative
methodologies. Candidates should send a CV (including a list of funded
research if applicable), a statement of research and teaching
interests, copies of 2 reprints or other written work, teaching
evaluations (if available), and the names of three
