Assistant Professor or tenured Associate Professor in the field of
Germanic Linguistics:
Tenure-track Assistant or tenured Associate Professor beginning August
2000. Duties include research and teaching interest in Germanic
Linguistics with emphasis on syntactic theory. Must be able to teach
German language. Must teach two courses per semester. Ph.D., teaching
experience and native or near-native fluency in German
required. Knowledge of Yiddish or another Germanic language in
addition to German and English desirable. Interviews may take place
at the MLA Convention in December. To ensure full consideration, send

Subject: Semantics/Cornell University
Cornell University: The Department of Linguistics seeks to appoint a
scholar who specializes in formal semantics. Familiarity with
foundational issues and connections to philosophy of language is
highly desirable as well as interfaces with syntax and
pragmatics. Teaching responsibilities will include both graduate and
undergraduate courses. This tenure-track assistant professorship
appointment will begin July 1, 2000. PhD required. Applicants should
send statements, vitae, and copies of published and/or unpublished
scholarly work to Semantics Search Committee, Department of
Linguistics, Morrill Hall, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY 14853-4701
USA; at least three letters of recommendation should also be sent
directly to the committee. To ensure full consideration, applications
and supporting materials should be received by December 1, 1999.
