To the members of Linguist List:
I am happy to announce that a new article has been posted on the web at
http://www.SignWriting.org :
"A Linguistic Comparison: Two Notation Systems for Signed Languages:
Stokoe Notation & Sutton SignWriting"
by
Joe Martin
Western Washington University
mailto:Martinj4 at cc.wwu.edu
Linguists familiar with the well-known Stokoe method of notation for
ASL may be interested in this comparison with SignWriting, a system
which has been adapted to other signed languages as well.
Please note: we hope to provide an Acrobat ..pdf file of the article; an
announcement will be made.

Subject: New Mailing List - Computational Ling/ `cl-maori'
This message is to announce a new mailing list, `cl-maori', for the
discussion of issues relating to computational linguistics in the
Mäori language. Topics in computational linguistics include natural
language parsing and generation, automatic speech synthesis and
interpretation, statistical and corpus-based methods in linguistics,
and any other computational treatment of natural language. Relevant
issues for the list include:
- reports of projects currently under way in Mäori computational
linguistics;
- requests for information about projects in particular areas;
- specific technical queries about any aspect of computational
linguistics as it applies to Mäori.
Postings can appear in English or Mäori. Anyone can subscribe, and
the list is unmoderated.
To subscribe to the list, send a message to Majordomo at albatross.co.nz
with
subscribe cl-maori
in the body of the message. (You can leave the subject line empty.)
You will receive in return a message giving further information about
how to interact with the list.
Looking forward to your contributions!
