     The 3rd Formal Approaches to Japanese Linguistics Conference (FAJL3)
                           May 18 - 20, 2001
                                  MIT

The Department of Linguistics and Philosophy at MIT will host the 3rd
Formal Approaches to Japanese Linguistics Conference (FAJL3), on May
18-20, 2001 at MIT.

CALL FOR PAPERS

We invite abstracts for 30 minute talks (20 minute presentation +
10 minutes for discussion) on any aspect of Japanese formal/theoretical
linguistics. Papers comparing Japanese with other languages are equally
welcome.

Abstracts must be anonymous, at most two pages long (including examples
and references) on a letter-size sheet (8"1/2 by 11") with one-inch
margins and typed in at least 12-point font.

We only accept electronic submissions. The acceptable formats are
PC/Mac MS Word and PDF. For phonetic fonts, either
SIL IPA93 or IPA Kiel should be used. For any unusual fonts, please attach
the font file. Abstracts that do not follow the above format will not be
accepted. Submissions are limited to 1 individual and 1 joint abstract per
author. The proceedings of FAJL3 will be published by MIT Working Papers
in Linguistics (MITWPL).

Electronic submissions should have the abstract as an attachment and the
subject header "abstract", and include all the author information listed
below in the body of the e-mail. The file name of the attachment must be
the same as the title of the abstract or a shortened version of it.

IVes JDL Conference

Appel de communication

Les XVes Journées de linguistique (JDL) se tiendront les 15 et 16 mars 2001
au pavillon Alphonse-Desjardins de l'Université Laval.



Les JDL permettent aux étudiants des études supérieures, ainsi qu'aux
chercheurs de niveau postdoctoral, de présenter et de publier les résultats
de leurs travaux en didactique des langues, en linguistique ou en
traduction. Depuis quinze ans, les JDL ont permis à plusieurs dizaines
d'étudiants de présenter leur première communication et de publier un
premier article scientifique.

Pour la quinzième année, l'association des étudiants diplômés inscrits en
langues et linguistique (AÉDILL) invite les étudiants à soumettre une
communication aux JDL. Les personnes intéressées doivent soumettre leur
proposition de communication avant le vendredi 2 février 2001. Les
communications sont d'une durée maximale de 20 minutes et sont suivies
d'une période de questions de 10 minutes. Elles devront être présentées en
français. Les formulaires Proposition de communication et Résumé de
communication, disponibles sur le site internet, devront être dûment
remplis selon les instructions qui y figurent. Les propositions de
communication seront évaluées par un comité de lecture. Les formulaires
doivent être accompagnés d'un chèque de 15,00 $ fait à l'ordre des Journées
de linguistique. Ce montant couvre les frais d'inscription et de
publication des actes.

Après la tenue du colloque, les participants qui le désirent seront appelés
à produire un article qui paraîtra dans les actes du colloque. Bien que la
cosignature des articles avec les directeurs d'études ou les professeurs
soit permise, seuls les étudiants seront autorisés à présenter des
communications. Les consignes de rédaction des articles vous seront remis
lors du colloque.
