Subject: Typology of Noun Classifiers

Is anybody aware of research on the typology of noun classifier use?
I have seen some information on the use of noun classifiers with numerals,
but I'm particularly interested in other uses, such as in possessive
constructions, relative clauses, and demonstrative forms.
I'd appreciate information on these or any other uses. I'll post a summary.

Thanks,
Lisa Johnson

I'll be starting a Master's course in Functional grammar, so I
was hoping to get an overview of functional grammar; what are the main
principles or aspects of a functional grammar. I'm more familiar with a formal
grammar so what are the differences between formalism and functionalism.
Thank you in advance,
Michael Johnson
