We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

Subject: History of Linguistic Terms
I am interested in the history of linguistic terms. So I am
grateful for any hints pointing at contributions to the
intersection of word formation, history of words, termino-
logy, and the history of linguistics. I am aware of course
of the literature on the latter as well as of the informa-
tion in some of the terminological dictionaries such as
the notes in small font in Trask 1993, but I am wondering
if anybody has used the tools of historical morphology and
lexicology on this special class of items.
If there is enough response I will be happy to summarize.
