Function title : Linguistic Database Manager

Responsible for design, development, and maintenance of database
applications and resources for Machine Translation, including
multilingual translation lexicons and linguistics development tools.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Maintain and enhance current database system for development and
  management of multilingual translation dictionaries
· Integrate, maintain and coordinate lexical resources from L&H
  development groups and external sources
· Design, implement and maintain client/server configuration and
  functionality for shared databases
· Support and advise Linguistics Department staff in use and analysis of
  data resources and applications
· Support and advise Programming staff in development of lexical
  applications and tools
· Support and advise Quality Assurance and Configuration Management
  staff in data management, production and testing issues
· Serve as an internal and external liaison for data warehousing
· Perform data auditing on a quarterly basis

EDUCATION, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE:

· Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent
  experience
· Minimum one year professional experience in relational database
  administration
· Knowledge of Microsoft Access (VBA) and/or Visual Basic programming,
  including Jet engine and DAO
· Knowledge of SQL and client/server database architecture and
  administration
· Experience in multilingual database localization and
  internationalization preferred
· Familiarity with scripting languages (Perl, VBScript) preferred
· Strong oral and written communication and documentation skills
· Good working knowledge of one of the following languages:  Spanish,
  French, German, Italian, or Portuguese
· Advanced understanding of general Linguistics issues and application
  to MT data management

Ability to work both independently and in close cooperation with
Linguistics and Programming Departments
