One-year substitute position (with possible tenure-track renewal) in
Syntax.

The position will be available from August 1, 2000, and the appointment
will be made at the Assistant Professor level. All candidates should
have the Ph.D. in hand at the time of appointment. Applicants must
demonstrate the background and capacity to teach undergraduate and
graduate Syntax courses and direct graduate research in the field. An
emphasis in a second area such as phonology or sociolinguistics would
also be advantageous, although it is not required. Applicants would be
expected to teach broad-based introductory linguistics courses at the
undergraduate level; to advise graduate students; to teach undergraduate
and graduate courses in Syntax and, if possible, another linguistics
area; to pursue independent research and publicaction projects.
