We wish to make three additional academic appointments and further
strengthen our research specialisms.  Candidates are sought particularly
in areas such as learning and language development (especially
neuropsychological approaches), health psychology, and cognitive
neuroscience.  The school, which has recently established a Centre for
Cognitive Neuroscience with facilities for fMRI and ERP, has an
outstanding record of success in both teaching and research.  According
to national assessments we rank among the top-rated UK Psychology
departments for research (i.e. rated 5A on a scale of 1-5*) and have
achieved the highest rating "excellent" for Teaching Quality.

We are particularly interested in appointing researchers with interests
in Brain and Language who will complement the interests of our language
research group by bringing expertise in ERP, fMRI and other neuroscience
methods. Current research strengths in the School include the
acquisition of phonology, morphology and syntax; language disorder
(dyslexia, aphasia and others); cross-linguistic comparisons; reading
and spelling and their disorders; computational modelling and emergence;
bilingualism; second language acquisition; psycholinguistic studies of
adults and children; infant speech perception; cognitive linguistics;
applied psycholinguistics. A new interdisciplinary research unit, the
Centre for Psycholinguistic Studies Bangor, promotes research
collaborations between Psychology, Linguistics and Informatics. We have
strong links with health and clinical psychology services.

Applicants will be expected to have a Ph.D. and teaching and research
experience appropriate to the level of appointment in a relevant field.
