 Summary:

 Manager of Nuance's Languages group. The group is tasked with
 porting Nuance's Speech Server to many languages and maintaining
 and improving these international modules. Tasks include data
 collection, dictionary procurement & development, acoustic model
 training, productization, software/engineering, & QA. The candidate
 should have a good working knowledge of most of these areas, and
 be able to come up to speed in the rest very quickly. He/she should
 have very good project and people management skills.
 Within-company communications (e.g. with Sales, Marketing, and
 Engineering) is a key job component.

 Responsibilities:

      Defining, prioritizing, assigning, and scheduling projects
      Interfacing with Marketing and Sales
      Delivering high a quality speech recognition product
      Managing motivated engineers

 Required:

      Good software engineering skills, UNIX and C/C++
      Working knowledge of speech recognition
      Good people-management and project-management skills
      Good communications skills

 Ideal:

      Expert speech recognition analysis/development
      Expert understanding of Phonetics and Phonology
      Experience porting speech recognition to various languages

Summary:
As a Manager in the Nuance Professional Services Applications group, you
are responsible for leading a high caliber technical team that
envisions, creates and deploys Nuance's next-generation interactive
speech recognition/verification applications. This is an opportunity to
use your proven project management skills combined with your strong
project deployment experience to lead, mentor, motivate and track your
team as they deploy state of the art speech recognition and verification
systems. You will be responsible for managing service forecasts,
developing opportunities, negotiating services bids, meeting team goals
as well as be involved in customer care and forging alliances with
partners and customers. You and your team will work directly with Nuance
partners and customers, Nuance Sales, and various technical groups
within Nuance including Speech R&D, Dialog R&D, and Core Software
Engineering. Your job is fast-paced and challenging as you draw on your
technical knowledge to lead your team to push the envelope daily with
Nuance customers around the world.


Responsibilities:
Leading and mentoring team members in speech technology.
Leading and mentoring team members in project management practices.
Bid Management (project estimates, working with Nuance Sales team and
external customers)
Project Management (project planning, deliverables, risk assessment and
negotiation)
Business Management (revenue tracking, revenue reporting, revenue
driving responsibilities)
Process Improvement (capturing and refining processes used to deliver
Nuance Professional Services)

Required:
Thrive in a fast-paced state-of-the-art-technology environment
Experience in speech recognition, verification technology
Experience in leading and tracking projects
Experience in leading and motivating a team
Experience in working with customers
Excellent written and verbal skills
Excellent problem solving skills
Proactive, self-directed, detailed, and organized

Any combination of the following is ideal:
Experience in a Professional Services group
Speech coding, pattern recognition, DSP, telephony
Experience with dialog design for speech systems
Experience with data analysis and tuning
Experience with usability studies
Familiarity with software industrial design cycle
Software coding experience (Java, Unix, C, C++, NT)

Education:
BS, MS or PhD in wide variety of technical fields including Computer
Science, Engineering, Operations Research, Business, Risk Management,
Linguistics, Cognitive Sciences.
