SOFTWARE DESIGN ENGINEER [Job Code: N05rc-4n ]
Design, develop and code dialogs for Microsoft's new telephony and
speech recognition based applications and change the way people access their
data. The Speech Product Group-Telephony Applications (SPG-TA) team is
Microsoft's central organization for speech telephony technology. Be a
key component in this strategic and rapidly growing group. You will be
developing interactive dialogs for easy-to use applications, evaluating
application performance, and making recommendations to improve caller
satisfaction and transaction completion. Candidates need to enjoy a fast
paced, team-participation environment and have a genuine interest in speech
interface technology. Candidates should have working knowledge of
computer-human interfaces, and possess excellent communication and
analytical problem solving skills. Experience, related course work or deep
interest in dialog design is necessary, along with a willingness to work in
a structured, industrial software design and development process. A key part
of the day-to-day work in producing and maintaining a dialogue system is in
building the interface to the content so familiarity with SQL database and
Internet programming would be advantageous. Other key computer skills are
JavaScript and/or experience with other scripting languages, C, C++, and NT.
Desired education backgrounds are a BS, MS, PHD combining Computer Science
and/or Engineering with Linguistics, Cognitive Sciences, and Psychology, or
Human Factors Engineering.

Job Location: Redmond, Washington
