The LINGUIST List strongly encourages employers to use
non-discriminatory standards in hiring policy. In particular we urge
that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity,
nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we
have no means of enforcing these standards.

Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding
employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international
employment page http://linguistlist.org/jobnet.html.

This page has been set up so that people can report on the employment
standards of various countries.

Microsoft has an opening for a Program Manager to help guide linguistic
search technology in the Natural Language Group (NLG). The Search team
ships components built on our language analysis engine that help Microsoft
products deliver higher search precision to end users. NLG is the central
organization for shipping advanced linguistic technology in Microsoft's key
applications and system products, including Office, Windows, and several
consumer applications.

As a Program Manager, you will deliver updates to existing components,
pursue new features, and advance the underlying technology as we move to
higher-precision search results and question answering. Responsibilities
include specification and scheduling of search features; coordination with
internal clients on feature requirements and schedules; and communications
with team, management, and clients. You will work closely with the
development and test teams to prototype and deliver technology improvements
such as word-sense disambiguation.

Preferred experience includes an MS in either Computer Science or
Linguistics and 2-3 years as a program manager, or equivalent industry
experience. Knowledge of computational linguistics, information retrieval,
or information extraction is highly desirable.

Microsoft is an equal opportunity employer and supports workforce diversity.

Please send your CV, in ASCII text or as a Word attachment, to
nljobs at microsoft.com, and reference job number N054N-03-1399.
