012937 Speech Scientist (Portuguese)

Our client company in MA is looking for a Portuguese Speech Scientist.

Will be working with application development teams to deploy leading
edge telephony applications in the telephone network, in major corporate
call centers, and on PCs for the home and office. Based on knowledge of
what is important for these deployments, you will also be improving the
client's core technology, adding features and functionality to the
technology, and developing new technologies for next generation
products.

Responsibilities: As a design and development consultant, work
across application development teams to ensure best possible recognition
performance for projects in the company's solutions business.
Take active role in incorporating new speech recognition and/or natural
language technology into solutions projects. In between applications
work, or as agreed in the quarterly plan, design and implement
improvements to the company's core recognition technology and
tools. Provide technical sales support in analyzing the feasibility,
cost, and likely performance of new types of recognition tasks for
customer proposals. Assist in preparing these portions of written
responses, and more generally representing our technical capabilities in
customer presentations and meetings. Act as technical lead on customer
projects with a heavy emphasis on speech technology (as opposed to
application-driven projects). Educate customers about the unique aspects
of speech application development and guide them to ultimately
successful applications.

Requirements: Knowledge of pattern recognition, speech recognition,
probability and statistics.  Knowledge of language modeling,
finite-state machines, natural language processing.  Fluency (spoken
and written) in a foreign language is a plus (we are seeking
individual who speak Portuguese, German, Japanese, Korean, Cantonese,
Spanish, and others) Desire and ability to work as part of a team.
Fluency in UNIX or NT (ideally both). Programming skills in C or C++ ,
Knowledge of Perl is a plus. Excellent oral and written communications
skills. MS or Ph.D. in EE or CS, or equivalent experience. Work well
with other technical experts in user interfaces and application
development.
