The Department of Linguistics at Northwestern University is seeking to
fill a full-time one-year position at the rank of Visiting Assistant
Professor in the area of sociolinguistics, bilingualism, or
discourse/pragmatics beginning September 2001.

Requirements: expertise in the languages of the Hispanic/Latino
populations of the United States and demonstrable teaching excellence.

Responsibilities: five courses (one possibly graduate) distributed
over three 10-week quarters, advising, and possible direction of
independent-study projects.

For fullest consideration all application materials should be received
by JANUARY 31, 2001.  The application should include the candidate's
CV (indicating an e-mail address), statements of research and teaching
interests, teaching evaluations (if available), and representative
publications or other written work.  Candidates should arrange to have
three letters of reference sent directly to the Department; one of the
letters should focus on the applicant's teaching qualifications.
