The following post will be advertised shortly:

Vaxjo University, Sweden, invites applications for the post of Senior
Lecturer in English Linguistics, in the School of Humanities.

Duties include teaching and supervision of term papers at the undergraduate
level in English linguistics within the ordinary English courses as well as
within the teacher training programmes and the programme for International
Administration with a Foreign Language. In addition duties may include
teaching at the graduate level and other undergraduate teaching in which
the English section is involved. Duties also include active participation
in syllabus development and other administrative responsibilities.

Qualifications required for a lecturership include both a completed PhD or
evidence of corresponding academic competence and demonstrated teaching
ability. Applicants with no knowledge of Swedish are expected to learn a
Scandinavian language within a period of three years. Equal weight will be
given to the applicant's research and teaching experience. Documented
interest in developments within the field of teacher training would be an
additional recommendation.

Applications with ref no 1002/99 should have reached Vaxjo University,
SE-351 95 Vaxjo, Sweden, no later than November 30, 2000. Applications
should include three copies of the following: CV, a brief description of
the applicant's research and teaching experience, attested copies of
certificates and up to ten scientific publications. Documentation of
teaching experience should include a letter from the applicant's head of
department or other supervisor.

The university has a policy of determining salary on an individual basis.
Please indicate your desired salary in your application.

Candidates who wish to be considered for appointment at the rank of
professor should indicate this in their application.

Applicants may be called upon for an interview and a public lecture.
