Position available in language acquisition (bilingual, first, and/or
second), Georgetown University.

The Department of Linguistics at Georgetown University is pleased to
announce an opening for a tenure-track assistant professor in the
applied linguistics program. We are seeking a linguist who specializes
in language acquisition (bilingual, first, and/or second). Desirable
areas of expertise include one or more of the following:

- language data collection from children
- psycholinguistics
- classroom-based SLA
- educational linguistics/TESOL

We welcome applications from candidates whose research investigates the
acquisition of phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, the lexicon,
pragmatics, or discourse. The six-member applied linguistics program is
part of a large and diverse linguistics department. Established teaching
and research connections exist with linguists from a number of
additional departments.

Applicants should have a Ph.D in hand by August 1, 2001, an excellent
record of research and publication, and demonstrable teaching ability.
We plan to conduct the initial round of interviews at the annual meeting
of the LSA (January 4-7, in Washington, D.C).

The firm deadline for consideration of applications is December 1,
